What is a Retainer?

A retainer is essentially an advance payment towards your attorney's services. An attorney will bill against these funds until such time as the retainer is exhausted.

Retainers are usually required for any work that is billed to the client hourly. My retainer depends upon the circumstances of your case.

Other Types of Fees

Flat Fees - By comparison, other areas of law may require a flat fee be paid, which covers the entire representation of the client.
Contingency Fees - Some areas of law also provide for a contingency fee which means that the attorney is paid a percentage of any amount you recover. Contingency fees are not allowed for family law matters.
